About Us and our Full time RV Life

We're Jason and Kristel from Exploring Our Compass! We're a full time RV life couple that live in a Grand Design Solitude 382WB-R 5th wheel! Jason comes from a background in aviation. He is an Army veteran, where he worked on AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters before joining the civilian world and now works on corporate aircraft. He also has his Airframe and Powerplant license. Kristel's background is in hospitality and bartending. She was a bartender for over 20 years before turning her career towards work camping.

In August of 2021, we sold it all for a life that we had talked about for years prior! It wasn't easy letting go of all our belongings, which included our 2000sq ft home w/ pool, 98% of our personal items inside that home, and 2 vintage Volkswagens. The family that purchased our house also bought all our furniture and pictures inside of it so that made this transition easier but we still had numerous yard sales, trips to Goodwill, and Facebook Marketplace posts in order to sell what little items we did have left that weren't going to be brought with us. 

Jason's children do not stay with us full time as they live with their mom, where they go to public school, so we had to find the perfect rig that would fit the full time travels of a couple but also have the room to transform into a family rig when needed. We found that in our 2021 Grand Design Solitude 382WB-R. It's not a bunk house like you're probably thinking though. No, our rig is a front living with two pull out couches that act as the kids bed room when they are in town. They...excuse me...WE all love the privacy it gives us having the kids in the front part of the rig and us in the back. 

Our goals for this full time rv life of ours is to travel as much as we can all while work camping to save money. At the time of writing this, neither one of us has seen too many states out west. So the ultimate goal is to head west. As we make our way there, we would really appreciate any and all support from you guys that are reading this.
